JOHN WILLIAMSON

John is the co-founder and Managing Director of Ascari and an experienced public sector economist and consultant. John has ten years experience within the public sector and has successfully collaborated on the delivery of complex public sector projects and initiatives.
John is actively engaged in work for clients on the economics of urban areas and the economics and funding of transport projects. John is currently acting as Funding Advisor on the Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI) project and previously acted as Funding Advisor for the Eastern Transport Corridor. He has a strong understanding of the economic and business environments in the urban growth and transport context.
John is an expert on the relationships between transport and urban development and has undertaken a range of theoretical and applied research papers on this topic. He is also actively involved in the development of economic models that are able to forecast changes in economic activity resulting from changes in transport and land use patterns. John has extensive experience in the development of funding strategies and funding applications, having managed successful funding applications for the Britomart Project, AMETI and the Eastern Transport Corridor, a range of regional passenger transport projects, and the proposal for Te Wero Link project.
John is currently assisting the Auckland Regional Council in its refresh of the Auckland Regional Growth Strategy, by acting as an expert adviser on economic futures and assisting to facilitate workshops with councils and other stakeholders. He is also assisting the Auckland Regional Transport Authority to update the Auckland Transport Plan.
