Activity Planning Framework: Arts, Community and Recreation division

Auckland City Council (2006-2008)


Ascari was commissioned to produce an activity planning framework for the Council’s Arts, Community and Recreation division. The purpose is to provide the division with a strategic focus, with tangible links to the Council’s long-term vision and strategic objectives, and to achieve an activity-based focus for prioritising the division’s planning and budgeting. This framework has been fed into a review of the Council’s long-term council community plan and financial output structure.


Lifestyle Choices Strategy

Auckland City Council (June-August 2007)


To assist the Council in developing a strategy for providing lifestyle choices in Auckland city, Ascari carried out a meta-analysis of local and international research, reports and strategies. This included interviewing key informants and running workshops. Based on these findings, Ascari recommended a number of strategic focus areas, objectives and priorities. Ascari then worked closely with the client to produce a draft strategy document that was endorsed by the Council’s executive team.


Strategy: Waiheke Artworks strategic plan

Auckland City Council (April 2008, ongoing)


Waiheke Artworks is a council-owned arts and cultural complex. It was initially developed by the local community and is a valued community asset. Ascari is assisting council staff in drafting a strategic plan which will clarify the role and focus of the complex, establish an appropriate governance and management structure and create a framework for programme development to enable the complex to best meet both community and Council needs and expectations.

Auckland Regional Transport Authority (September 2008)


Ascari provided strategic advice and assisted in the preparation of the Auckland Transport Plan.


Transport Strategy

Auckland City Council (August 2007)


Ascari reviewed the Council’s transport strategy, objectives and performance measures and advised on a new direction. Ascari reviewed the key themes of a range of national, regional and local transport strategies and helped the council develop a new strategic framework.


Submission to the Department of Building and Housing: “Building for the 21st century: review of the Building Code”

The Phobic Trust (September 2007)


Ascari provides ongoing advice and support to The Phobic Trust of New Zealand Inc. The Trust’s Mission Statement is to stimulate awareness and education anxiety, phobic and compulsive disorders, alleviate the suffering of those involved, and provide input into research on the cause and management of these disorders.


Many of the concerns of sufferers of anxiety, phobic and compulsive disorders are directly related to the built environment. Certain features of public buildings can exert debilitating physiological and psychological stress on individuals. Ascari developed this submission on behalf of the Trust.
